With Valentines Day fast approaching I thought I’d make some suggestions about where to take your special loved one on the big day itself. Even if you can’t make it on February 14th these places still make a great romantic day out at any time of the year.
Forget overcrowded boat trips on the Thames, why not take your loved one for a boat ride on the Serpentine in Hyde Park. Hire out your very own rowing boat just for the two of you.
Take a trip to Kew Gardens in West London and visit their new Tropical Extravaganza, a rush of colour featuring some of the most beautiful displays seen in London for quite some time.
Go for a walk around Highgate Cemetery, not the most obvious spot for a romantic walk, but it really is a wonderful experience. The cemetery is filled with the graves of a lot of famous people, in particular look out for the rather impressive gravestone of Karl Marx.
Instead of sending your partner flowers why not bring them to the flowers with a trip to Colombia Road Flower Market. It’s a wonderful, vibrant, colourful treat in the East End of London. The flower market is only open on Sundays although some of the shops do open during the week.
If you’re feeling flush why not hire out your very own pod on the London Eye and enjoy a bottle of champagne as well as spectacular views across London. This is one great way to tell that special someone that you love them.
Feel like getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city? Head to Richmond Park and take a walk in the Isabella Plantation, it’s one of the most attractive spots in the capital. While you’re there, take in the view from King Henry’s Mound from where you can see St Paul’s Cathedral.
From the top of Primrose Hill you’ll get one of the best views of London. So pick a bench, snuggle up and enjoy the view. When you’re done admiring the view head down into the village for a great selection of cafes, bars and restaurants.
Enjoy spectacular 360 degree views of London from The Shard, open all the way up to midnight on Valentine’s Day. Level 69 hosts a sky high champagne bar open from midday, so you can enjoy a glass of bubbly while taking in the view with the one you love.
Whatever you get up to on Valentines Day I hope you all have a romantic and enjoyable time. Always remember it’s not always about the amount of money you’ve spent but more about the time and effort you’ve put in to making the day really special. Enjoy!L
